March is quickly approaching, which for South Florida EDM fans means it’s almost time to crack your piggy banks for the plethora of live acts to descend upon Miami.
Beginning March 21, Winter Music Conference kicks off the 10-day convention which “attracts thousands of artists and music industry delegates from 70 countries and over 100,000 event attendees each year for a concentrated schedule of more than 500 events, parties, seminars and workshops.”
Concluding the conference is the highly-anticipated Ultra Music Festival to be held in Downtown Miami, March 28-30. “In 2013, Ultra Music Festival set a new attendance record with roughly 330,000 people from more than 80 countries.”
This year marks the 16th anniversary and tickets do not come cheap with general admission tickets running $399.95 plus a $90.05 service fee, up roughly $115 from last year’s price tag.
If you can afford a prized UMF ticket, the lineup promises a blend of the hottest artists across all EDM genres and top-of-the-line production in the lighting and pyrotechnics department.
I have been lucky enough to attend UMF 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013 but this year I see more value in solely attending WMC events such as pool parties and various other clubs in Downtown Miami and Miami Beach area.
These events usually include a more mature experience because of their 21+ age requirement but still offer the full day party experience with great live DJ acts. You can also find pool parties starting from $40 and be close enough to high-five your favorite DJ’s! Again,
I have attended Ultra four times so if you have not ever attended the festival before, I would still advise you to experience it at least one time.
Just ask tree-kissing girl, she’ll never forget her first Ultra Music Festival.
